Newsletter #3 /June studio soirées and big cat energy
Open studios in London, energising collaborations, photographing big game in the Mara
This month has so far been abundant with work + travel experiences across time zones. I’m excited - mainly because I can finally invite my friends and acquaintances - old and new - to my new studio and share a bit of my growing practice from the past year.
Nicely timed with the Kensington and Chelsea Art Week, there are three open studio events in the week of June 19. Aside from the events, I’ll be open to visitors by appointment all week.
I’ll be showing several selected drawings from films (that have been so helpful in informing my recent larger work), alongside my paintings and projects and some intaglio prints at the open studios.
Key dates:
June 21 - Members only event with the fabulous Saloon Network. Membership is free and they regularly organise interesting events across several cities around the world. Register for this event here.
June 23 - Private view on Friday evening hosted by me at my studio. Please get in touch if you’d like an invite or appointment to attend this one. In collaboration with KCAW.
June 24 - Family friendly, day-time event with most of the artists at ACAVA studios, Blechynden st. This will be my first with the folks at ACAVA. An exciting lineup and some of the artists have been studio holders here for the last 30 years!
In collaboration with KCAW, this will be a fun thing to do on a (hopefully sunny) Saturday. There’ll be much happening in the area too aside from the regular weekend buzz in Notting Hill next door. We welcome everyone from arts professionals to art-friendly families.
Next month, on Thursday,July 6 at UCL, Gower street, London, I’ll be speaking at the Fevers, Frets and Futures conference organised by the Institute of Advanced Studies, UCL and the Association of Medical Humanities.
Those interested can see details and register here.
Earlier this week, on an early morning game drive, I had the lucky chance to sight and spend time with a leopard in the wild (from the safety of my jeep) and draw her in real time. So thrilled!
I’m going to leave you with this and hope to see some of you at the open studios later this month!
